Sky Pilot: lol Dr. Mojo: Perhaps not something to brag about... :-) stiffkat: pfffft, MO, you can try but I'll always fight back :) Meta AuntiAlias: Okay.... there was a question for you Ken.. just for info. what's da machine you did that work on? Dr. Mojo: Look at it this way: The longer it takes, the more spiffy presets you'll get! stiffkat: amen to that Dr. Mojo: It's a PC. 450 MHz I think. Wolfie: How about categories FOR those new presets? Hint..Hint.. Meta AuntiAlias: Wolfie, with all due respect... GIVE IT UP! camel: MM Meta AuntiAlias: for now Dr. Mojo: They'll be cloud presets in the texture libs. Sky Pilot: Can't let it go! JeffP: Take all the time you need... stiffkat: LOLOL, where's that wolf muzzle........ Wolfie: kewl so they are standard cloud tex? 3d~?~elf: need some doggie downers Dr. Mojo: You guys are gonna hate me when I get ALL my slow & spiffy stuff into Bryce! stiffkat: LOL elf, no doubt Dr. Mojo: No, they are new textures. Sky Pilot: What fun is a fast render? Clay: LOL!!! 3d~?~elf: tortureer!!! Dr. Mojo: In fact, that scene uses all (and lonly) new stuff in B4: terrains, textures, volumes. stiffkat: never Mo, we'll never hate ya Rosy: :=) Meta AuntiAlias: Sky Pilot, I like yer attitude! Dr. Mojo: "We'll see abou that," Stiffkat! Ringo: Long live Mojo! Sky Pilot: Pay the price: ) Dr. Mojo: Realism always has it's price. And it gets higher all the time. camel: Mojo!! You are da man!!! Clay: ? Wolfie: Multiple render machines will take care of all the new features I think! Meta AuntiAlias: Clay, go ahead with your question! JeffP: Any animations of the NEW stuff? Clay: I know I asked this before, but will we see lens flares in the future? Meta AuntiAlias: yes... make a sphere, squash it Dr. Mojo: It's on the list. Dunno the priority, offhand. Meta AuntiAlias: change its index of refraction so it looks like a lens then make it flare DaleP: Clay mentioned earlier a sky technique for water.... Meta AuntiAlias: presto! lens flare! Yojimbo: cool! Meta AuntiAlias: yes... Clay how 'bout that sky technique now? stiffkat: also, put 4 flat walls together, apply mirror, it will flare where all four meet Meta AuntiAlias: after showing us the "in near future" and having us all drool... it's a good idea to come back to what we can do now! :D Clay: oh, it was actually using a clooud plane to make water look a little more real Meta AuntiAlias: do tell! Clay: k lemme bring the page back up to show.... Sky Pilot: I've used cloud mats for ship wakes, Clay Clay: http://www.phase2.net/claygraphics/terraformer.html Wolfie: cloud ? after clay stiffkat: yeah aunti, someone sent me a preset of it, problem is it takes up lots of room and when you drop size the effect is muted Clay: using Cloud planes just under the surface of Water slabs stiffkat: I'll have to play with the sphere now :) Ringo: I see great Clay. Clay: you can get some neat effects Rosy: very nice Cricket: Nice image, Clay!! I've used that technique with cloud plane on water myself. Sky Pilot: Sounds interesting Looks very nice! Clay: I use it in all my water scenes thanks Meta AuntiAlias: so you just place it just above the top of the water? Yojimbo: under Wolfie: under Clay: tweaking the clouds can get very convincing results for diff environments no just under Susan Sky Pilot: What people won't think of! DaleP: How about ship wakes Sky Pilot? Sky Pilot: I love it. Clay: AND Sky Pilot: OK Clay: I always use the Carribean water preset set to grey insted of Auqua Sky Pilot: http://members.aol.com/beyondvr/burke.html Clay: done stiffkat: Dale, for wakes, try drawing a greyscale of a flat wake, take it to the sym lattice squish it in the A bounding box, replicate it and set them crossing each other slightly Rosy: Sky...cool wake! Sky Pilot: There are a lot of tori there stiffkat: you can get pretty close to 3D that way Sky Pilot: cylinders Dr. Mojo: <As a footnote, I put the wake on the Titanic in the movie. Don't think there's that much need for it in Bryce.> Sky Pilot: inside each other Clay: neat image DaleP: Thanx stiffkat Sky Pilot: with different mats applied Frodo10: I have a question for people, how much does Poser cost? painter: ? Wolfie: here is a wake I did on the titanic: http://www.wolfiesden.com/bryce/gallery/general020.html Sky Pilot: Mapping varies stiffkat: working on a tut Dale, should have it up in a couple of weeks, working on several at the same time Frodo10: Okay thanks, I was wondering Sky Pilot: Wake at rear is terrain Dr. Mojo: Cool, Wolfie--looks a lot like the one I did! Meta AuntiAlias: in re: to Poser question: www.metacreations.com/products/poser4 Frodo10: Thank you Dr. Mojo: That's what I did: Add a terrain to the water height field that Arete made. I got all into trochoids and phase, but then, it WAS Titanic... Wolfie: I also made a negative terrain to carve out the water plane for the troughs of the waves stiffkat: ooooh wolfie, that's smart! Sky Pilot: That's a great technique for water Dr. Mojo: Ship wakes are really hard. No one really does them correctly, not even in Titanic. (Look real close next time you see it, it actually sucks pretty bad!) Meta AuntiAlias: painter, you had a question? go ahead.... stiffkat: Mo, the 13 year olds were *not* watching the ship wakes.....LOL Clay: ! Sky Pilot: lol stiffkat: "Oh Leo....." Yojimbo: hehew
