BryceTalk—Meet Martin Murphy, May 20, 1999
Part 4

Clay: LOL

AuntiAlias: Ringo, you're on!!! :D

Ringo: Mr.Murphy. excellent work..images & tutorials...what are your basic recommendations to first time Bryce users? Going from Bryce2 to Bryce4 we are all very please to see the changes...what would you like to see added to Bryce in the next version? :-)

AuntiAlias: Q & A Queue: nacho, egypt, Steve Lareau, MadMap, CyberCurt

Clay: ?

3d~?~elf: ?

FastTraxx: Im off again, thanks for the tips Martin

Clay: cya fast

FastTraxx: stop by sometime, http://www.chemicalstudios.com

FastTraxx slinks out.

robokoneko slinks out.

dawn is off to see the Wizard.

mmurphy: 1) First time users should have fun. Dont' worry about making that perfect image just yet. Bryce is much deeper than it lets on. Learn all it's little secrets then tackle a big project.

KathG: Just like to say thank you Martin......I have enjoyed tonight, but must call it a night . The dawn is coming up here in the UK...... 4.50am in the morning LOL. well worth staying uo for though :)

mhough is off to render mirrored spheres.

mmurphy: Take care Kath!

2)

robokoneko materializes from thin air.

KathG is off to see the Wizard.

Ringo: Also do you agree that the learning curve for bryce is well ...very short.!

mmurphy: new Bryce features? Hummm, I would love (speak of the devil) soft shadows! Ha ha ah.

Yojimbo: hehe

Clay: LOL

PLANT LAB!!!

Ringo: done.

Yojimbo: Nice

mmurphy: some way to make grass!!!

Yojimbo: nod

Clay: LOL

KPT John: On the list Martin

AuntiAlias: nacho!!!

mmurphy: (for my Zebras!)

nacho: hi martin which type of terrain editor tools do you think are the most important to create realistic mountains... i think they are mounds and erode...i usually merge 2 or 3 1024 terrains to achieve high detail do you? sorry about my english

mmurphy: (cool John)

MadMap is off to render mirrored spheres.

Suddenly MadMap appears.

AuntiAlias: Q & A Queue: egypt, Steve Lareau, MadMap, CyberCurt, Clay, 3d~?~elf ... then.. finish! :D (I'm sure Martin's fingers are fatigued with all this question and answer!)

mmurphy: I think the best editor tool would be the paint and unpaint tools. I love to make one terrain that has many different type of textures on it. Yes, I merge many terrains as well. The mountain on the box cover took about four terrains.

nacho: do you think next bryce need new terrain algorithms? thanl you for your answers and your time

MadMap: what happened to me?

mmurphy: ...not including the surrounding ones.

done.

AuntiAlias: Steve Lareau, you' re on! :D

Steve Lareau: Where was I? Oh- the Blue Queen- when are ya going to offer that for sale as a huge glossy print? I know a LOT of pixelheads would groove on a copy. I've personally never been so jazzed by a digi image before- major high fives on that one.

Oh- and please, join me in an honorary Brycers Late Night Chair Spin- ready? 1,2,3, WHEEE!!!!!!!! You've just been inducted into the chair spin gang!

egypt: HEY!!

Clay: wheeeee!!!!!

Steve Lareau: WHEEE!!!!!!!!!!

mmurphy: Terrain algorithms? I'm happy with what they have in that department. Take care nacho!

ChaMelEon: HAY!!!!

mmurphy: WHEEEEE!!!

Steve Lareau: LOL! Made my day!

Yojimbo: hehe

Steve Lareau: a goitta get that queen to poster print - you'd make a killing....

mmurphy: I didn't with the last one!

egypt: Hello!

mmurphy: donel

george: night all. this has been very informative. Murphy....I love you autumn flirts piece. Get some rest everyone.

AuntiAlias: re: whee spin-- Steve, you're a nut! A genyouwine original!!! Mad Map.. it's YOUR turn! :D

MadMap: tell me about how you did the trees in the bryce cover. Are they all created using the same method?

Yojimbo: night

technoid: I think egypt got skipped

mmurphy: Night George!

MadMap: oh and wheeeee!

egypt: Thanks

Steve Lareau: LOL!

AuntiAlias: aaack! you're right! sorry!

egypt, please go ahead

egypt: Thats ok

MetaJohn materializes from thin air.

george is off to save the world.

egypt: Two questions..(1) How much time did it take to complete the Image on the Bryce 4 box from start to finish? (2) Have you created any animations using Bryce?

justin saunters in.

mmurphy: 1) Since the box image was already half done (reworked previous image) it was completed in one day.

egypt: wow!

AuntiAlias: (and the previous image took how long?)

knog has left the building.

MadMap: no fair aunti

Clay: LOL

technoid: she's just helping

mmurphy: 2) I've only played with animation. As soon as I get some more free time I'll get down and dirty with the key frame button.

Yojimbo: it's a follow up it counts

;)

MadMap: nudge nudge

mmurphy: ...the previous image took about 2 or 3 evenings.

egypt: Thanks for the great night of chat you have been a great sport Murphy. Bye

mmurphy: take care egypt!

Betty: going to call it a night too. Thanks Martin. It's been great just 'listening'!

AuntiAlias: ; ) Mad Map, you're been extremely patient, even with moderators butting in to ask clarifying questions... :D and now, YOU ARE ON!

Reflash: yea

Betty slinks out.

mmurphy: take care Betty! Thanks for comimg!

MadMap: cut paste - tell me about how you did the trees in the bryce cover. Are they all created using the same method?

egypt is off to save the world.

mmurphy: The trees were right out of Bryce 3D presets! In the Trees and Rocks section.

ChaMelEon: that answered my question

mmurphy: ...I changed the color of the trees and after the final render I zoomed in and hid the "squares" used to make the pine needles. (If you look you can see the ones I missed)

AuntiAlias: CyberCurt!! You're ON!

CyberCurt: Which has been more rewarding; painting with pixels, or painting with the brush? and, THANKS for sharing your insight into Bryce.... :)

MadMap: i thought so but i thought you might have a sneaky way to do them more efficiently, thanks

mmurphy: Hey, no problem, it was fun! Rewarding, hummmm, that's a good question...

Clay: c'mon you love your Mac:-)

better than your sable

Yojimbo: :)

mmurphy: Nothing is better (to me) than a huge painted canvas. But I get such a thrill with technology. I'm addicted.

MORE POWER, MORE POWER!

he he he, done.

AuntiAlias: (Final Q & A Queue: Clay, 3d~?~elf )

Yojimbo: hehe

Clay: LOL uuuugggg

MadMap: thanks for all the info and snacks martin. I'm off to render mirrored cubes despite what the exit message says ;-)

AuntiAlias: Clay!

mmurphy: LOL, take care MadMap!

Clay: do you prefer paint or pixel?

honestly?

cboswell: Night all. Thanks, Martin and Susan. :)

Yojimbo: night

mmurphy: pixel. No fumes, easy changes, portable.

cboswell disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.

Clay: or both...

:-)

CyberCurt has left the building.

Ringo: how about 21" monitor canvas.?

mmurphy: done.

MadMap: ciao all, thanks aunti for not butting in too often ;-)

AuntiAlias: 3d~?~elf.... it's YOU it's YOU! :D

3d~?~elf: can you tell us what software you use and also, i would like to order 'autumn flirts..' is it available[still]?

Clay: ?

mmurphy: mmmmmmm 21inches.....

Yojimbo: yeah me too if possible

mmurphy: 1)
