BryceTalk Housewarming Moderated Q&A with Bryce Engineers; April 6, 1999
Congratulations, you've created this room!
Meta Hawk has finally arrived.
apenick wants to play too.
Suddenly MetaIan appears.
bwagner has joined the party!
Meta Hawk: sproing!
Airihannah has just entered.
Suddenly Scott appears.
Pegasus materializes from thin air.
M'Kell has finally arrived.
bwagner: Ah, much better
apenick: jeez
M'Kell: whew
Scott: much quieter ;)
M'Kell: lol
Airihannah: indeed.
Meta Hawk: not for long. :)
ahole has just entered.
apenick: now see what you've done?
bwagner: Ah, that "thin air" smells much better with ahole around ;)
wscottart has finally arrived.
ahole: Now i think we need little more managable environment.
Sasskwatch materializes from thin air.
apenick: who's got the first question?
AuntiAlias: If you have a question, type
?
M'Kell: I would just like to say thank you to the developers and programmers for a fine program... *horah&
Airihannah: ?
apenick: i can't get picts to work proper
Danny has finally arrived.
TychoNuski has finally arrived.
danster has finally arrived.
Cricket has finally arrived.
bwagner: a humble thanks for that compliment
ahole: Thanks M'Kell
Mindscenes saunters in.
Meta Hawk: :)
renato! materializes from thin air.
AuntiAlias: go ahead arihannah
Suddenly Calyxa appears.
DanWhiteside saunters in.
M'Kell: You are more than welcome.. I'll be quiet now.. :)
KPT John has finally arrived.
Cricket: I'd just like to say this is the BEST BRYCE EVER
Scott: :D
Danny: Yep it is
M'Kell: ?
DanWhiteside: I second that
KPT John: Ian can you address Beartraps memory issues?
apenick: ?
Airihannah: Thank you. About the ability to add new Categories - the manual gives instructions pointing to a non existant (as far as I can tell) option...did it not make it, and if not, will it be avialabe in a upcomming (soon) patch?
danster: I don't know if this question is appropriate, but when will we get metastream for mac?
Beartrap saunters in.
MetaIan: I will, John
KPT John: Thanx
Scott: soon, Dan- seriously
Airihannah: (uuggg, pardon the spelling:))
Scott: don't have hard dates yet but it's really coming along
AuntiAlias: no problem, Airihannah...
danster: thx ;)
bwagner: We plan to provide this "missed" functionality in the update...
AuntiAlias: anyone want to field that one?
Cricket: Airhannah...that's great to hear!
Danny: What one ??
bwagner: And, no, it will NOT be a six month update, rest assured!
Scott: ;)
KathG has just entered.
AuntiAlias: M'Kell.. go ahead!
Airihannah: Great! Thanks.
zman52 has finally arrived.
Danny: Hi zman
MetaIan: If you have a question, type
?
Cricket: ?
Digital_Efx saunters in.
KPT John: Bear?
Sasskwatch: I have a problem with BryceTalk not finding my browsers (do the cut & pate thing with url's posted here). I suspect it's because they're both located on my D: drive rather than C:. Any solutions?
AuntiAlias: (apenick, you're next)
M'Kell: *lost my train of thought*.. I'll come up with it again. :)
danster: I have a question, Do you guys love your jobs or what?
apenick: thanks. call it user error if you like, but for the life of me I can't get the PICT feature to behave properly...
AuntiAlias: okay, apenick, you're on!
Digital_Efx: cut and paste? I just click and off i go
apenick: case in point:
renato!: sure do danster
apenick: I have an image, a map to put on a sphere, and I have to make it transparent...
TychoNuski: ?
Lise wants to play too.
Danny: What wont work with a pict obj. ?
MetaIan: one question at a time folks!
apenick: however, as I raise the transparancy the image doesn't fade away
instead it gets more ambient
bwagner: I have the answer
Danny: K
bwagner: You need to use Blend Transparency
M'Kell: ?
bwagner: That will provide the fade, rather than the optical effect you are getting
apenick: hmm.
Digital_Efx:
Cricket: Unless you're in a volumetric world ::ducking::
apenick: that will work in conjunction with transparency masks as well?
Danny: LOL(Cricket)
bwagner: You are experiencing refraction, that is causing what appears to be an increase in brightness
yes, it will, andrew
apenick: but it's set to 100 (air)
Digital_Efx: <~~~was gonna say dial down the refraction....lol
Danny: Set it to 0
apenick: hmm.
bwagner: It doesn't matter, it's a completely different way of rendering...
apenick: thanks!
next!
bwagner: That is why that shading mode (Blend Transparency) exists...
MetaIan: I think it's Cricket's turn now
Danny: K
TychoNuski slinks out.
Digital_Efx: crickets dont get a turn...:)
MetaIan: Cricket?
Cricket: I think this may be stupid. With RaySpray (GREAT feature) If I've started a render and stop it, change a little piece..then RAYSPRAY and resume render, it starts over. Though it doesn't rerender the rayspray. Is this normal?
DanWhiteside: ?
Danny: Lost me
wscottart: ?
danster: (thumbs up for rayspray)
FireHeart wants to play too.
Airihannah: <----LOVES the RaySpray.
bwagner: Any changes to the scene will cause the resume render to start over...
Cricket: Okay! Thanks
Airihannah: <---Called it SprayTrace tho.
Digital_Efx: ?
MetaIan: sasskwatch, it's your turn
Sasskwatch: ok
In Bryce Talk I can't just click a url.
Have to do cut and paste.
flance has joined the party!
danster: I'm trying to get the perfect underwater effects, looking for pearls of wisdom...
Sasskwatch: Seems likely it's cuz I have browsers stored on D: drive rather Than C:(?)
MetaIan: in answer to your question: I'm not sure... It should work fine from the d drive...
bwagner: hey, you're out of turn
danster: sorry
MetaIan: if you have a question type
?
sbaty materializes from thin air.
Dr. Mojo saunters in.
MetaIan: sass, I'll look into it
Sasskwatch: Must be another problem then. Just ain't workin' here.
Cricket: Mac or Pc?
Sasskwatch: Thanks!
edward materializes from thin air.
Dr. Mojo is off to save the world.
Sasskwatch: Oh, this on a pc.
MetaIan: TychoNuski, go ahead
woops, already gone
M'Kell: ?
Meta Hawk: I think Kell is up. :)
MetaIan: M'Kell
M'Kell: Are there plans to be able to save booleaned objects and bring them back as one object rather than a group?
MetaIan: yup
ahole: It's pretty complex problem which we continue to work on. The technology did not reach a state that we would feel
Pyewacket wants to play too.
ahole: comfortable to release it yet...
renato!: ?
M'Kell: I would love to be a beta tester for you .. :)
ahole: But yes we intend export of boolean objects in the future.
sbaty: You'll make Pete Govars happy if you do!
M'Kell: Thanks
MetaIan: ok, DanWhiteSide
DanWhiteside: Brian - Is the current VWorld something like 600x600Bu? also I'm having some problems with booleans in VWorlds - they don't seem to be as bright.
bwagner: Dan, yes the effect fades
out at a preset distance FROM THE CAMERA...
so it follows you around wherever you go...
We will fix this to make sure it encompasses all objects in the scene
SpiderFarmer materializes from thin air.
DanWhiteside: Thanks
Suddenly rgross appears.
KPT John slinks out.
MetaIan: wscottart, go ahead
wscottart: Speaking about the raytrace made me remember the demo marker. Is it still with us in B4? I was looking for it the other day, or did I just overlook it?
bwagner: As far as the boolean issue, I haven't seen that, I'll check it out, please send me some email on the issue
Suddenly Clem appears.
MetaIan: if anyone has a question, type
?
renato!: ?
SpiderFarmer: ?
danster: ?
ahole: Yes the demomarker is still there. It's where it always was...
Clem: ?
wscottart: Must have overlooked thanks I;ll look closer
MetaIan: renato!, go ahead
renato!: in the AML... when I option click the Time Mapping Curve in the editor, another set of lines show up... they seem to show how the curve is being approximated? explanation for what this is about and ot
zman52 has left the building.
renato!: its usefulness?
M'Kell: It's just aboove the rayspray ws...
Gregg saunters in.
Digital_Efx: <~~~got missed
Dr. Mojo wants to play too.
ahole: OK
MetaIan: : (
Dr. Mojo has just left.
KPT John has just entered.
MetaIan: sorry digital
ahole: The set of lines represents the tangents to the curve
Digital_Efx: :)~
wscottart: Good night all, been a great party
wscottart is off to render mirrored spheres.
renato!: i c
Beartrap is off to render mirrored spheres.
ahole: They should help you to explain how the curve behaves and why.
edward: will raydream, bryce, poser &infini-D ever be combined ?
MetaIan: digital, go ahead
Dr. Mojo materializes from thin air.
Digital_Efx: Sometimes in my rendered scenes, spheres have what looks like heat waves around the edges? What am i doing wrong?
Dr. Mojo is off to see the Wizard. Dr. Mojo is off to see the Wizard.
MetaIan: if you have a question, type
?
bwagner: Here's an idea everybody
Gregg disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
Calyxa disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
flance disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
bwagner: When we're answering, we'll use "..." at the end of line to indicate that we've got more text coming
MetaIan: cool : )
Beartrap has just entered.
SpiderFarmer: ?
Mindscenes: Is there a way to change the image on the moon, or have the sun and the moon in the sky at the same time? If not, any plans for this in the future?
Clem: That's what I am really looking for too edward, a combination of RayDream, Poset and Bryce
bwagner: When we're done, we'll leave it off...that way you'll know we're ready for the next ?
MetaIan: if you have a question, type
?
danster: ?
SpiderFarmer: ?
Dr. Mojo has finally arrived.
Roednt has just entered.
ahole: The edges on the sphere are most likely caused by shading mode called fuzzy...
KPT John: Digital Efx has already started
ahole: If this happens to you, go to the matrial lab and make sure that the shading mode is set to normal.
MetaIan: (danster, spider... you're on the list)
flance has just entered.
MetaIan: spider, go ahead
SpiderFarmer: If I want to maintain 3d objects and attributes created in other applications such as poser, what is the best export method?
Caridad saunters in.
Digital_Efx: it seems to happen to spheres that are moved to the back of the scene rather than resized
flance: ?
Digital_Efx: ...thanks
bwagner: Our best support is for these formats...
LightWave
ahole: Digital_Efx i need to see a scene to be able to determine what's going on.
bwagner: VRML
TrueSpace
ahole: Sorry for the out of order talk.
bwagner: You will get the most material info from these formats
jspirko has finally arrived.
Roednt disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
SpiderFarmer: Coolness. Thanks.
bwagner: DXF and OBJ have a limited amount of material info in them...though we do support all of it
Trimax wants to play too.
Digital_Efx: hmmmmm.....lemmee see........I took those pics down.....
MetaIan: danster, go ahead
danster: Any plans to make editable splines on paths? (i.e. illustrator)
DanWhiteside: ?
MetaIan: welcome folks. If you have a question, type
?
ahole: danster i got your question
xochi wants to play too.
Caridad: ?
sbaty: I'm outta here guys...
c'ya
SpiderFarmer is off to save the world.
Airihannah: bye:)
ahole: The splines in Bryce are fully editable. We have to beef up the UI and then the functionality should be almost the same is illustrator
.
sbaty has more important business elsewhere. sbaty has more important business elsewhere.
Digital_Efx: me too.......thanks guys
Strator has just entered.
MetaIan: clem, go ahead
danster: thx ;)
Dr. Mojo: How to post images--like
this: http://www.seas.gwu.edu/faculty/musgrave/planetrise.jpg
Clem: I'm just wondering about learning resources
danster has left the building.
AuntiAlias: what in particular, Clem?
ahole: Ken settle down.
KPT John: Maybe I can help here?
There are several books coming soon...
AuntiAlias: :D
KPT John: Susans will probably set the standard...
Dr. Mojo: Settle down? I'm trying tp figure out how to shoot rockets in this room!
Clem: Well, actually the things that are really driving me nuts are the Materials Lab and the Deep Texture Editor.
AuntiAlias: this is the room of the moderated Q&A, Ken
Jefferson saunters in.
bwagner: Yes, Susan, thank yoiu
AuntiAlias: Clem, I'll be teaching those topics at Bryce Camp 99 in Ojai next month
Dr. Mojo: Oh, so you want to moderate my rockets. Fine.
Scott slinks out.
KPT John: Maybe we should film that Susan?
M'Kell: YES
Meta Hawk: Mo... you just can't go round shootin off all the time. :)
AuntiAlias: hafta let you know on that....
Grendel has joined the party!
AuntiAlias: but it's a definite possibillygoat?
KPT John: There will also be several magazine articles on the DTE soon, but I do not know in what detail
AuntiAlias: welcome folks. If you have a question, type
?
Clem: Slight problem, there. I'm in Wyoming and can't really afort to make a trip to California just now
bwagner: Make a road trip, Clem
KPT John: I will make it a priority to place on the web...
Strator has more important business elsewhere.
Trimax: thats sorta unreal for most of us
KPT John: several people have asked about it tonight
jspirko: ?
Cricket: Thanks John!!
Airihannah: Asked about what?
AuntiAlias: edward, go ahead...
Trimax: why cant there ever be anything on the east coast we byt progs to
Digital_Efx has left the building.
AuntiAlias: (mindscenes, flance, DanWhiteside, Caridad, and jspirko, you're in the queue!)
Clem: ?
Airihannah: Ah, indeed. East Coasters need camp too!
AuntiAlias: edward?
Trimax: yes
KathG is off to render mirrored spheres.
KPT John: !
Trimax: like i have a job not goona take a week off to go to cali
AuntiAlias: hmmm.. How about Mindscenes
go ahead with your question, please
Mindscenes: Is there a way to change the image on the moon? Any plans in the future for it if not?
Jefferson has more important business elsewhere.
Trimax: like siggnagraph
Grendel: When is the site library going up?
edward: i'm still here & working on a picture
ahole: There is no real way to change the moon picture to what ever you want...
Airihannah: Mee too Tri, I'm in Atlanta, California is forever away, unfortunately. Just priced it out tonight, no way with the airfare. I'm very sad.
xochi is off to save the world.
ahole: But you can see some people on the moon if you hold down the Option/Alt key down :)
.
KPT John: Max and Air, please wait your turn!
Trimax: me to Air
Trimax has just left.
AuntiAlias: flance, go ahead with your question!
flance: Is there a way to set physical memory in B4 as there was in B2 on a PC?
ahole: There is no need to do so any more. On the windows side we have virtual memory provided by the OS and on the Mac side we have implemented virtual memory system which takes care of most of the troubles.
Dr. Mojo is off to render mirrored spheres.
AuntiAlias: (DanWhiteside, Caridad, and jspirko, you're in the queue!)
flance: Tanks
ahole: .
MetaIan: ::quietly:: I've got to be going, but I love you all! Enjoy. : )
MetaIan has more important business elsewhere.
Danny: See ya Ian
AuntiAlias: DanWhiteside, you're up! :D
DanWhiteside: what about import support for RDS- perhaps when RDS 6 comes out? and are Apple Events now working in the Renderer?
flance is off to see the Wizard.
AuntiAlias: Welcome: If you have a question, please type: ?
ahole: We're working on it as we speak Dan.
edward has just left.
Clem: Aunti, I don't suppose you could video your classes and put them up for sal on the web, at a reasonable price, for thise of us who can't make it to one of you classes?
Sasskwatch is off to see the Wizard.
M'Kell is off to render mirrored spheres.
ahole: As far as the apple events go no you can not talk to the renderer.
DanWhiteside: thanks ales
Caridad: Any plans to do more with foliage, ala scaled image maps or... whatever.
sorry...
Grendel: ? do you know when the site's Libraray is going up?
Airihannah has just left.
bwagner: Yes, we're looking into the whole vegetation issue.
AuntiAlias: You want to take Caridad's image, and I"ll take Grendel's?
jspirko has just left.
AuntiAlias: the site library is showing up after the signup gets completed
oops, sorry, jspirko had a question and just left...
Grendel: which is when?
jspirko has finally arrived.
Clem: ?
Kimo has joined the party!
Caridad: ?
AuntiAlias: I don't have an ETA for signups being finished (should be rather soon) then we'll be putting together libraries and having a sorta public beta to make sure it all is working
I'd rather not say "tomorrow" ... cause if it gets to be
the day after tomorrow, then....
Cricket: ?
AuntiAlias: (you know how it gets to be)
Clem, Caridad and Cricket, you're in the question loop
Grendel: O.K. Thanks!
AuntiAlias: Clem.. go ahead!
sunset has just entered.
jspirko: ?
AuntiAlias: jspirko, oh! sorry.. I was about to say go for it when you left!
let's squeeze you at the head of the line, there
jspirko: How do you get a graphic imageor picture into the DTE? Thanks
Caridad: in the question loop?
AuntiAlias: DTE is completely procedural.. no pictures there
Trimax wants to play too.
FireHeart: ?
bwagner: Yooohooo, Clem?
sunset is off to see the Wizard.
AuntiAlias: Clem, Caridad, Cricket, Fireheart, you're in the loop. Clem.. you're up!!
DanWhiteside: ?
Grendel has just left.
Clem: Actually this goes back to the learning question. As you know, several of us cannot afford to travel to California to attend a class on learning Bryce. Is there any possibility you guys might consider recording these classes and making them available to
bwagner: We'll forward this to the organizer of the event
KPT John: May I
Clem: those of us out of the area vie the Metavcreations web site
bwagner: It is a great idea
KPT John: ?
These are not Meta events...
so we can not promise, but I will ask
sfshook has finally arrived.
jspirko: ?
Giles has finally arrived.
AuntiAlias: Caridad!
you're up!
Caridad: Can renderings made to disk be suspended?
Clem: Thanks. Please let me know what happens bbraten@wyoming.com
AuntiAlias: Cricket, Fireheart, jspirko, you're in the loop
Clem, send email to tilenut@aol.com
bwagner: They can interrupted, but not resumed at a later time...
AuntiAlias: (probably better that way)
Clem: Will do
Beartrap is off to save the world.
bwagner: They can be resumed right away, by clicking the RESUME button on the dialog that appears.
Clem has just left.
apenick: tile nut is still kicking? gads.
; )
KPT John: Who is next Susan?
AuntiAlias: hang on a mo.... I have had a suspended render hang out with that dialog box up, while..
I went to another applicaiton and did something
Cricket: It was me...This is for Brian. Did you get the project I sent showing the translucency around picture objects and their shadow? Any prognosis? Sylvia here.
AuntiAlias: that is on MacOS; don't know if Windows handles the interrupt of the Resume/Quit render dialog box the same way
bwagner: Yeah, we know what that is and it requires some render tweaking...
KPT John: Wait your turn Susan!
AuntiAlias: (er.. I was answering the question, John!)
bwagner: It will most likely be fixed in the next rev, i.e. probably not the update.
AuntiAlias: Fireheart, Jspirko, you're in the loop
Fireheart, go for it!
FireHeart: It was mentioned earlier (different channel) that the "broken" presets on the CD will be fixed. How will they be distributed? As a autoinstaller or zipped "you do the work" file?
AuntiAlias: (if you have a question, please type ?)
rgross has just left.
ahole: I have that one.
The presets on the CD are not presets but they are really
scene files. You can open them as scene file and use build the presets your
self.
Calyxa wants to play too.
ahole: We'll post the presets as really soon.
bwagner: One more thing for Cricket...I'll see if I can find you a workaround for the meantime!
Cricket: Thanks!
Trimax: ?
Pegasus: ?
Calyxa disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
FireHeart: Thank you
AuntiAlias: Jspirko, for it... Trimax, your'e next, followed by Pegasus
jspirko: RE:pics in the DTE - somehow or other, I WAS able to get a scan picture into the DTE when I first started using Bryce (last May) but couldn't figure out how to do it again. It was a scan of tree bark.
tiger has just entered.
Kimo: when will bryce support Poser animation ?
DanWhiteside: Think you missed me Susan
AuntiAlias: did I? sorry!
jspirko: go ahead with Dan
AuntiAlias: Dan, go ahead, then....
ahole: jspirko there is NO way!
Lise has just left.
Meta Hawk: into the PE maybe. :)
DanWhiteside: Kimo first?
Suddenly tommy appears.
pware has joined the party!
Caridad: ?
ahole: Dan?
AuntiAlias: The question queue is Trimax, Pegasus, Kimo, Caridad...
DanWhiteside: Is this Q&A going to be a regular thing? This has been really great!
bwagner: That's your questions!?!?
Trimax: when will the upgrade be avaible to export more than terrian
bwagner: Yes, we love this too, let's keep it going!
DanWhiteside: Thanks
KPT John: We will make it as regular as we can time permitting
tommy has left the building.
ahole: Try hitting Ctrl + D in the mesh editor. That's all for now.
Suddenly Soleil appears.
AuntiAlias: Pegasus, you're on!
Pegasus: How does the gamma correction effect the render?
AuntiAlias: (Kimo, Caridad, in the queue)
Trimax: i didnt get a answer
bwagner: Got that one Peg!
rvanderlippe has finally arrived.
tommy has joined the party!
AuntiAlias: welcome! if you have a question, please type ?
KPT John: Trimax:Try hitting Ctrl + D in the mesh editor. That's all for now.
bwagner: Ok, it alters images so that the color spectrum can be displayed properly on your monitor
Trimax: thats dup
ahole: There's a way to export mesh objects and terrain objects. However there meshes are still not fully supported so thet are not documented either.
bwagner: Most video cards/monitors are too dark, and the colors are not very realistic...
Trimax: bye
Trimax has just left.
tommy disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
Soleil disappears in a blinding flash of smoke.
bwagner: gamma correction attempts to correct for this...
I'm a zot has joined the party!
Kimo: Will Byrce support Poser files (Animation, bvh motion, ...) ?
bwagner: Things will look a bit too bright until you start designing materials which account for this, i.e. darker base colors (diffuse, ambient, etc)
Pegasus: Thanks.
ahole: We plan to import poser animations in Bryce. This will let you do all the stuff you're talking about.
renato!: cool!
Danny has just left.
Kimo: thanks, nice work on the faster imports of 3ds files !
AuntiAlias: Caridad, you're on!
If you have a question, please type ?
Caridad: Back to the suspended rendering issue. Even on a G3 my scenes are taking 40 to 60 hours to render. Is suspended rendering out of the question for 5?
Kimo: ?
jspirko has just left.
bwagner: Are you talking about Rendering to disk????
Caridad: Yes
Rambeauch has joined the party!
bwagner: We have planned this for the next rev
Caridad: that's good news. thanks
Meta Hawk: must be some cool scenes! :)
AuntiAlias: Kimo, go ahead!
if you have a question, please type ?
pware: ?
Kimo: Is there any video card thatoffers rendering accelleration (Apple's Quicktime ?)
Suddenly Rodney appears.
Rodney is off to see the Wizard.
Rodney saunters in.
bwagner: Rendering as in ray tracing????
Rambeauch: Renderpix
Kimo: yes, any hardware acellerators
bwagner: No accelarators will help when it comes to Bryce's final rendering...
However, the shaded preview modes can benefit from hardware
acceleration.
Kimo: oh
tiger: I asked this awhile ago in the wrong room - is there any plan to make a collaborative environment for worldbuilding - maybe that relies on hardware accelerators to view well - but something like this chat - only within Bryce?
AuntiAlias: pware, go ahead
pware: Back to gamma... my monitor is calibrated for CMYK in Photoshop. Does the Bryce target relate to any of Photoshop's profiles and is ICC info embeded?
AuntiAlias: tiger, we'll take your question after pware's....
ahole: The way Bryce deals with Harware accellration in the preview mode is through OpenGL. At this point we use Conix libraries, but it will work with Apple native OpenGL which will come up soon.
i mean come out
bwagner: Gamma issue, no we don't adhere to the PS profiles...
pware: So we just need to expoeriment.
AuntiAlias: if you have a question, please type ?
bwagner: We use a gamma setting of 1.6 on the PC and 1.1 on the Mac
tiger: Is there any plan to make a collaborative environment for worldbuilding - maybe that relies on hardware accelerators to view well - but something like this chat - only within Bryce?
Rambeauch: So the Renderpix accellerator won't help speed up rendering times
bwagner: When I say "use", I mean we correct the image for that gamma setting
pware: Thanks, your trying to make them display on each other's platform better.
ahole: No we don't plan to the any collaborative 3D environments
bwagner: Yes, Pware
AuntiAlias: okay, tiger's question about collaborative worldbuilding...
ahole: Rambeauch, No, 3d accellerators don't decrease the render time of the final (raytraced) image.
Rodney: ?
Caridad: Thank you all.
AuntiAlias: Rodney, you're after Tiger....
Caridad is off to see the Wizard.
tiger: I just exported a QTVR file - that's very cool! Thanks for that option and sorry if I was out of turn with my question.
sfshook has left the building.
Rambeauch: Bummer
ahole: No 3d environments :(
Meta Hawk: glad you like it Tiger. :)
AuntiAlias: Rodney, you're on...
Rodney: Brian, how does your targeting a gamma of 1.1 on the Mac relate to the almost universal setting of Mac video to 1.8
Or is that input versus output correction
bwagner: Our correction is in addition to what you already have via your display system...
A setting of 1.0 on our side would mean that we're doing nothing...
So, 1.1 means very little change...we assume that most Macs
are close to correct in the first place...
Rodney: OK, is that input or output correction?
bwagner: PCs are not, so a value of 1.6 is required for a more drastic correction...it is output correction.
Rodney: IE, does it darken or lighten the image from a 1.0 settoing?
bwagner: lighten
Rodney: Thank you, that's interesting to know. Does that mean files rendered on a Mac and a PC actually have different colors?
bwagner: Yes, the output is can be different if you use this feature in Bryce...
it is meant only for images which you plan to keep locally
and not use elsewhere, or distribute...
Rodney: Uhhh... then this is a new B4 feature ? Sorry, I missed that.
bwagner: Yes, it is new to B4.
DanWhiteside has just left.
Pyewacket is off to render mirrored spheres.
Rodney: I was getting a bit concerned, what with designing on a G3 and rendering on the stack of PCs... (I'm finished hogging the engineers)
bwagner: Just turn off the Gamma Correction in Bryce and everything will be OK, you're rendered data will then be unaltered.
That is to say, with it turned off, it will function just
like previous versions of Bryce.
KPT John: Gotta go,g'night all
AuntiAlias: Any other questions?
if so type
?
rvanderlippe: Goodnight John
